What
is more refreshing on a sultry summer afternoon than an ice cream
sundae made to order with your favorite flavor of real ice cream and
fruity toppings? Well, if you asked this little guy and the
other local pooches that attended last Saturday's event, they'd all
say, paws down, it was great! Not only were they able to mingle
with other fellow four-leggers, but they were able to bring their
humans to this worthwhile, charity affair.
Canine Creature Comforts, owned and
operated by Amy Parsons, hosted a Doggie Ice Cream Social, in
conjunction with Bruster's Real Ice Cream, to benefit the Alliance for
Philadelphia's Animals. The event was held in Canine Creature
Comforts' air conditioned facility at 81 Lancaster Ave. (intersection
of Route 30 and 401) in Malvern, PA. Bruster's Real Ice Cream,
located at 102 Lancaster Avenue (next to McDonald's) in Malvern,
supplied the specially
made "doggie" ice cream sundaes (made with frozen ice milk) and they
also provided traditional ice cream favorites for the dog owners.
In addition, there were activities and games for the canines,
including bobbing for hot dogs, making paw prints, raffles for
pampered pooches, and more. It was a charity event and a portion
of all proceeds from the raffle items, ice cream sundaes and
merchandise sales went to benefit the Alliance for Philadelphia's
Animals. The Alliance is a coalition of animal welfare and
animal rescue groups who are working to control and care for the
population of Philadelphia's animals through pet adoption programs and
spay-neuter initiatives. This gathering was designed to bring a
community of dog lovers and owners together to benefit a worthy cause
- Philadelphia's homeless animals.
Canine Creature Comforts opened this
past May and is a 15,000
square
foot indoor facility..yes you heard right - 15,000 square feet that
rivals any big-name pet care facility on the Main Line. They
provide doggie daycare, training, grooming and a boutique that would
make Gucci green with envy, offering a full line of K-9 products
ranging from Glamour Dog tote bags, Aromatherapy Spritzers to Sleigh
Beds for your favorite pooch! Whoever said, "...it's a dog's
life..." wasn't just whistling Dixie. Canine Creature Comforts
is doggie heaven right here in Malvern. What was most noticeable
and commendable at this event, was the fastidious cleanliness of the
hosts and their entourage; if per chance any of the guests (of the K-9
persuasion) had a slight accident, and who wouldn't with all that
excitement going on, the staff was right there to make things clean
and sanitary.
This reporter has to add that any
pet lover having a K-9 family member should definitely check out this
fully functional, well stocked and appointed facility at their
earliest convenience. Fido will thank you for it! Check
out these additional photos and you'll see what I mean.
